Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Working in education means you often benefit from the school schedule when it comes to holidays. I had a full two weeks off of work at the end of December/beginning of January and it was wonderful. I had a lot of time to relax and catch up on things that I didn't perviously have the time, energy, or honestly, the inclination to do before. I finished a lot of Christmas wreaths for my mom, did some baking (actually... lots of baking) and house cleaning. It also meant that I got to spend a lot of much needed time with family and friends.

My family celebrated Christmas at my parents' home in The Woodlands. Susie visited us on Christmas eve and Bonnie Jean joined us on Christmas morning for present unwrapping and our traditional Christmas breakfast casserole that my mother somehow makes better and better every year.

Our obligatory family photo in front of the Christmas forest. ;)

Catherine & Me.
The Saturday after Christmas, I met up with Kristin for dinner and drinks. It was wonderful to catch up since we realized that we hadn't seen each other since our last Christmas break. Yikes! Thankfully, with friends like her, it's like we were never apart. I can't wait to spend more time with this lovely lady this year. :)

Kristin and I always have a great time together. Whether it's in Rome or at a Taylor Swift concert in Houston. It's never a dull moment!

On Monday, I watched the Aggies beat the hell out of West Virginia in the Independence Bowl! I honestly didn't know what to expect from the game. The Aggies had a rough end to the season, so I'm sure I wasn't the only one a little nervous heading into bowl game. It got even more nerve racking after the Aggies were down in the first quarter after a Kyle Allen interception for a touchdown. Thankfully, the Ags pulled through and ended up defeating the Mountaineers with a final score of 37-45! And what else could have made that cold Texas night even better? Wine with friends around a fire pit.

I spent a quiet and relaxing New Years Eve with another vert close friend-Nicole. We tried our hand at making scones, which didn't turn out quite as planned, and enjoyed some wine while listening to the barrage of fireworks set off in her neighborhood. It was a wonderful evening with a great friend and her adorable, cute-as-can-be daughter. I didn't even mind getting woken up at the crack of dawn because little Alli crawled into my lap as a read her a book- it was perfection!

Before I headed back to College Station, Catherine also tried out a new hair coloring technique on me- something called "ponylights." I make a great test subject for her trial and errors because I'm not too picky what my hair looks like and, thankfully, she hasn't done anything totally crazy to my hair in a few years. ;)

Tucker spent a lot of time harassing playing with Aggie while I was home, so he was in a constant state of exhaustion. Such a tired puppy!

This first week back at work has been relatively calm. I didn't even have that many emails to catch up on. Can you say win! 2015 is going to be a great year- I'm looking forward to the fun new adventures that are going to come my way- including a week-long cruise with my lovely sister!
