Independence Bowl 2009

Throwback Thursday!

In 2009, my junior year, the Texas Aggies went 6-6 in football and wrapped up the season with a trip to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana. My friends and I, the football enthusiasts that we are, decided it was the perfect opportunity for a road trip! So, three days after Christmas we set out on the four(ish)-hour drive from Houston to Shreveport. We had a ticket snafu and ended up buying tickets from a guy outside the stadium and the seats were actually pretty great!

We ended up with really great seats in the end zone!
This is Chris, me, Kristin, and Jarrett at the 2009 Independence Bowl.

Our seats were so great, we could see Mike Sherman calling plays down the sideline.

Aggies vs. Georgia Bulldogs

Attendance: 49,653

Aggie quarterback, Jerrod Johnson passed for
360 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

Georgia scored 30 points in the second half
and ended up outscoring the Aggies 44-22.

Although the Aggies lost, my friends and I had a great time.

We drove back that same day after the game. After the game, my friend, Chris, began getting texts from friends telling him that he'd been on TV in the crowd. So, when we got home, we checked out a recording of the game and got these stills! Chris was on the screen for several seconds once in an Aggie fan shot and then he and I were both in a quick celebration shot after a touchdown since our seats were at the end zone. We look super ridiculous because we're yelling in celebration!

Touchdown!! Whoop!
